Mankato Battery Energy Storage Project

Mankato Energy Center, LLC, proposes to construct the up to 30-megawatt (MW) / 60-megawatt hours (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) and associated facilities (Project) in the City of Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Associated facilities would include inverters, transformers, electrical systems, and a short underground gen-tie (less than 800 feet). The project will be located entirely within the existing Mankato Energy Center (MEC) and is designed to provide a "behind-the-meter" storage system for the existing MEC Facility's CT2 facility when needed.
