Birch Coulee Solar Project

Birch Coulee Solar, LLC (Birch Coulee Solar), an affiliate of AES Clean Energy (AES), seeks a permit to construct and operate an up to 125-megawatt (MW) alternating current photovoltaic solar energy generating facility and associated infrastructure in Renville County, Minnesota. Birch Coulee Solar proposes to develop the project on approximately 768.2 acres within a site of 1,041.6 acres in Birch Cooley, Camp, and Bandon Townships and the city of Franklin. As part of the project, Birch Coulee Solar proposes to construct a new project substation and an short (<500 feet) 115 kilovolt (kV) generation tie line to connect the new substation to the transmission owner's facilities.Birch Coulee Solar will file a site permit application for the project with the Public Utilities Commission in 2024, in Commission Docket No. IP7119/GS-23/477.
