Project Summary
Regal Solar, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Geronimo Energy, LLC) was granted a site permit to construct the Regal Solar Project—a 100 MW solar energy generating system in Benton County. Its primary components include photovoltaic panels affixed to a linear ground-mounted single-axis tracking system, inverters and transformers housed in electrical cabinets, 3.3 mile double-circuit above-ground electrical collection system, project substation, and SCADA systems and metering equipment. The project also requires fencing, access roads, laydown areas, two weather stations, and an operation and maintenance facility. It would interconnect to the electrical grid at a new Minnesota Power switching station through a new, 700-foot 115 kV gen-tie transmission line.
The proposed project is directly west of U.S. Highway 10, approximately 230 feet west of Rice and one and one-half miles southeast of Royalton. It is located entirely in Langola Township on approximately 800 acres of center pivot irrigated farmland, which is not designated as prime farmland. The applicant maintains a purchase option with a single landowner.
