Project Details
Dodge County Wind, LLC (DCW or applicant), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, proposes to construct and operate a 259-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Dodge and Steele Counties and an associated 161 kV transmission line in Dodge and Mower counties.

Project Summary
On June 11, 2024, the Commission issued a site permit and a route permit authorizing Dodge County Wind, LLC (DCW), a subsidiary of Next Era Energy, to construct and operate a 252 megawatt large wind energy conversion system in Dodge and Steele counties, and approximately 27 miles of a 161 kilovolt gen-tie line in Dodge and Mower counties to connect the project output to Great River Energy’s Pleasant Valley Substation.
On January 27, 2026, the Commission amended the 2024 site permit in response to DCW’s request to reduce the capacity of the wind project from 252 MW to 229 MW and reduce the number of turbines from 77 to 71.
DCW indicates that construction of the project is anticipated to begin in 2027.
